Migrating a domain to Cloudflare
To migrate a domain to Cloudflare, you will need to update the domain's nameservers to point to Cloudflare's servers. Here's how to do it:
- Log in to your Cloudflare account.
- Click the "Add a Website" button.
- Enter your domain name in the "Enter a domain" field and click the "Scan DNS Records" button. DO NOT ASSUME THIS IS FOOLPROOF. MANUALLY CHECK EACH RECORD!
- Cloudflare will scan your current DNS records and display them on the next page. Review the records to make sure they are correct.
- Click the "Continue" button.
- Select the plan you want to use (Free, Pro, or Business) and click the "Confirm Plan" button.
- On the next page, you will see your Cloudflare nameservers. You will need to update your domain's nameservers to these values in order to complete the migration.
- To update your nameservers, you will need to log in to your domain registrar's account. (This is the company where you purchased your domain.)
- Look for the "Nameservers" or "DNS" section in your domain registrar's account.
- Replace the current nameservers with the Cloudflare nameservers. (You may need to remove the existing nameservers and add the Cloudflare nameservers one by one.)
- Save your changes and wait for the nameservers to propagate. This can take up to 24 hours.
Once the nameservers have propagated, your domain will be migrated to Cloudflare. You can then access and manage your DNS records through the Cloudflare dashboard.
